Based on the SB series (launched in 2003 with over 27,000 units sold worldwide), the SB-R latest model has been developed to meet today’s demands for enhanced functionality and performance while maintaining the series’ renowned high-rigidity structure.

High-Rigidity Tool Post with Inclined Dovetail Slideway Structure

 

 

For front-side machining, the machine is equipped with a high-rigidity gang-type tool post featuring an inclined dovetail slideway structure.
In addition, both the Y1-axis and X1-axis adopt dovetail slideways, significantly enhancing the rigidity of sliding components.

 

A single machine can be configured to suit different workpiece lengths:

  • Equipped with guide bushing / non-guide bushing (G.B. / N.G.B.) switching function
  • For long workpieces: use G.B. specification to suppress deflection
  • For short workpieces: use N.G.B. specification to reduce remnant material

This flexibility allows optimal configuration according to workpiece requirements

 

High Precision Design

Integrated design to meet demanding precision requirements:

  • The main spindle adopts a built-in motor drive. The sub-spindle (belt-driven) is equipped with built-in sensors for high-precision indexing
  • Temperature sensors installed throughout the machine enable accurate and responsive thermal displacement compensation
  • Oil mist cooling for the front tool post rotary tool gearbox reduces heat generation and ensures stable machining performance

 

 

 

 

High Productivity

Designed to deliver the machining capabilities required for diverse applications:

  • Turning tools: 5 tools (16 mm) or 6 tools (12 mm) options
  • Drilling sleeve holder: 4-axis type (Φ22×2, Φ32×2) / 5-axis type (Φ22×5)
  • Standard equipped with 5-axis interchangeable cross drilling unit. Multiple tool units (e.g., polygon machining, thread whirling) can be mounted on a 3-position interchangeable system, enabling flexible tooling configurations according to different workpiece requirements
